A poem
bare hospital walls
no flowers or letters allowed.
stillness and remdesivir
drips, drips, drips

you’re a survivor.
i know you’re strong. you can beat the
virus winding itself
through your lungs.

we still have films to
watch, songs to sing to, cities and
museums to explore
just come back.

i forgive you for
everything. just walk out of that
hospital room again
i love you.
My mother was 58 years old and my father was 63 years old when they both overcame Covid-19. I’ll be forever proud of them for fighting hard and recovering well, as well as thankful that they’re still here with me today.
